National Organization for Women
For nearly 60 years, the National Organization for Women (NOW) has been the leading grassroots feminist advocacy group in the United States. Founded in 1966, NOW has grown into the nation’s largest organization of feminist activists, with chapters in every state and hundreds of thousands of members and supporters.
NOW works to advance gender equality through intersectional campaigns for reproductive freedom, economic justice, ending violence against women, racial justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, and constitutional equality. From the fight for the Equal Rights Amendment to shaping today’s most urgent conversations about justice and equality, NOW has been at the forefront of historic wins that continue to transform women’s lives.
Much like the women at the center of LIBERATION, NOW exists to defend women’s rights, amplify their voices, and ensure that the legacies of past generations fuel progress for those to come.
